June 21 — 24, 2026

48th North & South Junior Amateur Championship

Entries are open to male and female golfers who are ages eighteen and under (as of June 22nd).  Contestants must not have reached their nineteenth birthday by June 22, 2026, OR must not have started college. All applicants must conform to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status and meet the requirements of the USGA Gender Policy.

54 holes of stroke play will determine the Champion. Play will be divided into two divisions: Boys and Girls. A full field will consist of 90 boys and 90 girls. The Boys division will play two rounds on No. 6 and one round on No. 2. The Girls division will play two rounds on No. 5 and one round on No. 2.

All applications, including those from exempt players, must be received by the Tournament Office by the entry deadline of 12:00 PM Eastern Time on May 15th. Entries should be submitted early to allow ample time for delay or error in transmission. The risk of delay or error in transmission lies solely with the entrant and Pinehurst will have no liability with respect to any such delay or error and the consequences therefrom, including rejection of entry. Applicants will fall into one of two categories: Championship Exempt or Championship Non-Exempt. The Championship field will be finalized by May 21st at the latest. All applicants will be informed of their status via email by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on May 21st.

ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

$350

Payment information will be collected from Championship Exempt players at time of entry and from Championship Non-Exempt players upon acceptance following the application deadline. Withdrawals after entries close on May 15th up to, and including, June 10th will be issued a refund minus a $30 processing fee. Withdrawals after June 10th will not receive a refund except in cases of extenuating circumstances, which will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All refunds are at the discretion of the Championship Committee.

Invitations (Championship Exempt)

  • Players meeting our exemption criteria will be invited to compete.
  • Players meeting exemption criteria will be accepted upon receipt of invitation/application.
  • Players meeting these criteria will be guaranteed acceptance unless more than 90 exempt players accept invitations to compete. If this occurs, players will be granted entry into the Championship based on their highest level of exemption status. (B1 precedes B2 so on and so forth).

Applications (Championship Non-Exempt)

  • Players not meeting exemption criteria may formally apply via application.
  • Players are encouraged to attach a playing resume along with their application. The resume along with various rankings will be used to determine the remaining players that are accepted.
  • All decisions are at the discretion of the Committee and all decisions are final.

At Close of Entries

  • Invitations and applications are received and processed. The field is determined based off the number of exempt players and selecting the best non-exempt players to complete the 90-player field.
  • Girls Field – A wait-list will be created for those not accepted and those on the list will be notified by email.
  • Boys Field – Any applicant who does not make the initial 90-player field will have the opportunity to compete in an 18-hole qualifier. The number of available spots in the Championship will vary based on withdraws from the Championship field.

Players in the following categories will be eligible for exemption into the 2024 Championship ONLY. The Pinehurst Tournament Office and Championship Committee reserves the right to revise any of the exemption categories. Exempt players who wish to participate in the Championship must still register.

Can I register exclusively for the qualifier? (Applicable to only Junior Boys)

No, you must first register as a non-exempt player. If you are not accepted into the Championship field, you will be invited to register for the qualifier. Unlike the Championship application, qualifier registration is first come, first serve.

If I’m exempt under several exemptions, which do I choose?

Select the highest ranking exemption, as the exemptions are ranked by priority. For example, exemption B10 is given priority over B11, so choosing exemption B10 would be correct.

Did exemptions change from last year?

Yes, exemption criteria for each Championship has slightly changed to reflect the importance of certain rankings and events. These are updated each year to ensure each Championship can have the strongest field.

Is the player dinner only for players?

Men/Women: Yes, this is for players only (no caddies, parents, etc.)

Junior: No, parents may purchase a dinner ticket during registration (if you are exempt) or once you have been accepted into the field

Senior: No, spouses/family may purchase a dinner ticket during registration (if you are exempt) or once you have been accepted into the field

Are practice rounds only for players?

Yes, these are for players only.

How can I register for practice rounds?

Once you are accepted into the field, you will be given access to a Golf Genius page that details how to book practice rounds. More information can also be found under your Championship’s ‘Practice Round’ tab on pinehurst.com.

Is the North & South ranked by WAGR, JGS, etc.?
